Silberfeld Mennonite Church

Sunday School

Sunday School is an opportunity to study God's word in an interactive enviroment. In addition to the children's classes, there are College & Career, Young Dads, Young Moms, and Adult classes. There are classes for all ages, so there's no excuse not to come.

The Sunday School also hosts an annual Christmas program on Christmas Eve and an Easter Program on Easter Sunday. These programs are traditions at Silberfeld, a time to remind us all the importance of these seasons. All are welcome to join us for these programs.

Sunday School is held each Sunday from 9:45 to 10:45 am.

Youth Programs

Silberfeld has four youth programs:

Please click on the programs above for more information.

Discovery Time

Our church has the tremendous opportunity to bring the Gospel to the students at the local Bothwell School. For half an hour each week, Christian volunteers from the community go into the school and teach the students about the Bible and God's great love for them. This is a rare opportunity that few churches get.

The material for this program is provided by Child Evangelism Fellowship.

Muffin Moms

Every other Wednesday morning at 9:30, all moms are invited to come to the church for a time of fellowship and encouragement. Spend time discussing family and spiritual issues in a friendly and informal enviroment, while enjoying coffee and refreshments... and babysitting is provided.

Ladies Fellowship

The Ladies Fellowship group (originally known as the Sewing Circle) provides valuable services for the church. Some of their activities they are involved in are:

  • Singing at the elderly care homes, such as the Rest Haven in Steinbach and the Menno Home in Grunthal
  • Preparing and serving meals and faspas for church events, as well funerals and weddings
  • Providiing meals to families in need
  • Spreading immediate prayer requests through the Prayer Chain
  • Volunteering for MCC
  • Fundraising for charitable organizations
  • Hosting special ladies functions at the church, such as the Spring Tea

Music Ministry

Music has always been a powerful ministry. At Silberfeld, the music ministry has changed a lot over the years. A one time, all singing was done in traditional Mennonite style - just a song leader leading the congregation in singing hymns - with no music instruments. Over time, a piano and organ were integrated, as well as choruses.

Today, the music team at Silberfeld consists of Worship Leaders (elected by the membership) as well as a full team of musicians (guitars, bass, drums) and vocalists. Both traditional hymns and many newer choruses are blended into the worship service in order to best lead the entire congregation in a time of worshipping God through song.
